• TNT's worldwide results for the six months to December 1991 show a loss of £22m compared to a 2.21m profit for the same period last year.
The group has suffered from poor performances in its home country, Australia, and in South America. It has also had heavy losses in domestic airlines, jointly owned by Rupert Murdoch's News International Corporation.
Figures are not given by country, but the UK's performance is believed to have held up relatively well, despite the intensity of the recession.
