WHAT STARTED as a local concours d'elegance in the grounds of Sherborne Castle, Dorset, has changed counties and become the Yeovil Festival of Transport, a two-day event attended by more than 40,000 people in Barwick Park, Yeovil. It will take place on August 13-14 and is being sponsored for the Yeovil Car Club by MercedesBenz (UK) for the 11th year.
Historic commercial vehicles, goods and passenger, will figure prominently in a varied show including aerobatic displays and tractor-pulling contests. Proceeds go to local organisations, which over the years have been presented with four Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the latest an ambulance.
