A NEW taxi and light freight service is to be operated by the British Road Services Group in conjunction with Air Nottingham.

The new service, christened Eastern Airlift, will be equipped with twin-engined aircraft capable of carrying over 1,0001b of freight or five passengers.

Eastern BRS marketing manager Mr Richard Earl commented: "While air taxis have been around for some time they have never been [able to offer the complete package that a link with an experienced freight transport company can offer."

The service will work on a dial-a-plane basis with customers making a telephone booking as late :as two hours before the required departure time. Documentation is then organised and the flight can be in the air in two hours.
