THE second consultative document on the qualifications for access to the profession underEEC regulations—the proposed Transport Manager's Licence —is to be circulated. in about six weeks' time.

The first consultative document was circulated in August last year and replies were still being received at the DOE at the end of December. It is the time taken to process the comments received from the parties concerned with the first document that has caused delay in circulating the second document originally planned for January this year.

Bought British

EXPORTS by the motor industry were up by 22.5 per cent in January over the same month last year. The surplus of exports over imports in the industry is now running at £1.45m.

Exports of components and parts rose by nearly a quarter to £105m and commercial vehicle exports were up by nearly half to -E40m while exports of dumpers, trailers and containers showed a 29 per cent boost to £49m.

Labouring on

THE Freight Transport Association is to hold a four-day seminar on labour relations. The course will be held at Frimley Hall Hotel, Camberley, and will cost .£115.

Speakers will come from both sides of the table and include Mr Ken Jackson, national secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union,. and Mr T. A. Cottrell, personnel officer of London Carriers. The seminar will be held on April 11 to 14.
