much needed heavy-vehicle repair ;ntre in the county of Norfolk, which as officially opened on Monday.

The centre has an unobstructed area 1 25,596 sq. ft. with 16-ft. 6-in, headmm, and is one of the largest workshops f its kind in the U.K. It is situated is the Norwich ring road, so that :tides can reach it without entering the ty. Geared to meet the needs of auliers who need a quick and efficient wn-round, the centre is fully equipped ith an extensive pump-room, electrical epartment and a comprehensive machine lop which can tackle any engineering :quirement.

Service pits are fitted with Speedline Thrication services, where all requiretents are piped to the dispensing nozzles; raste engiiie oil is removed from the pits y pneumatic ejectors. There are two ervice pits, both 32 ft. long, and situated o as to provide drive-on/drive-off operaion, thus avoiding the need for other lachines to be moved to allow access or exit. Across the entrance and about 50 ft. from the actual doors of the building is a gantry crane capable of lifting 3 tons, which will be used for transshipping loads, lifting off bodies, tanks and so on.

Repair pits are constructed with a layby pit to facilitate work and inspection on vehicles with underfloor engines. There are three pits, so placed to achieve the maximum amount of room and the minimum of obstruction, A vehicle placed on the pit for extensive repairs will not have to be moved to allow access to any other part of the shop. Also included in the heavy equipment is a commercial vehicle hoist. The shop is equipped with very comprehensive services, such as strategically placed, heavyduty electric welding points, low-voltage inspection lamp circuit and ring-mains for air-operated tools, all designed to cut down the often wasted time when a vehicle needs these services and cannot be positioned close enough.

held, and stocks of engines and other major components are available for B.M.C. and A.E.C., together with many other fast-moving items such as brake linings, oil-seals, gaskets, bearings, fanbelts and so on.

A paint shop covering an area of MON sq. ft. is available both for painting and repainting any type of vehicle. 'The company aims at providing a 14-day turn-round for repainting a maximum capacity eight-wheeler requiring a lot of signwriting. The company has facilities for steam-cleaning and de-gassing road tankers and can carry out repairs to any type of vehicle, including refrigerated vans. Recovery vehicles are available to lift or tow the heaviest commercials and cover a very wide area. A tyre and battery service will be operated.

For the comfort and convenience of drivers waiting for their vehicles there is a waiting room fully equipped with maps and bus and train timetables. There is also a canteen where a driver can obtain a meal for Is.. 64.
