Fort Dunlop, Birmingham 24, :THE big stuff—tyre and wheel assemblies up to 24 in, diameter—is accommodated by the Dunlop WBM/15 balancing machine which measures static unbalance quickly and

D16 . precisely without the need for a power supply. Assembled for use, its overall length is 36 in. width 18 in. and height 34 in., the weight being 260 lb. Equipment includes adapter plates for 6-, 8or 10-stud wheels; spherical and conical seat wheelnuts; a weight calculator; a Wrench and a 3-in-1 tool for balance weights and wheelnuts. These are stored on and inside the pedestal of the machine.

Operating procedure is: 1, select and fit adapter plate to hub; 2, clamp wheel to adapter plate; 3, free hub and rotate wheel slowly so that light spot comes to rest at 12 o'clock position. Mark with chalk; 4, select weight and slide on to graduated rod of weight calculator, position adjacent to chalk mark ; 5, turn wheel until rod is horizontal, then move sliding weight outward from wheel centre until it steadies; 6, read off amount of balance weight required; 7, fix weights at chalk mark.
