BY G. PEARSON Machines

APPLIED POWER INDUSTRIES INC. (U.K.) LTD.

717 Tudor Estate, Abbey Road, Park Royal, London, N.W.10. .flLAIMED to be the only static and ''dynamic wheel-balancing machine without component parts requiring periodic adjustment, such as springs, the Elackhawk U44C is guaranteed for life. It can be used on British, American and Continental wheels up to 16-in. (an adapter is required for 10-in. wheels).

This is a compact bench-type, handoperated machine that is tilted for easy mounting of a wheel on a universal plate. A pointer is then set, a brush inked, and the wheel spun. A dial records the exact weight needed and, at the same time, an ink mark is registered, the centre of this mark being the precise position for the weight to be placed to correct dynamic balance.

A graduated ruler then indicates position and amount of static -balance discrepancies.

Other models are the U44A, on a stand with all electric motor, and U448, also on a stand but hand operated.

Unless otherwise indicated all three are delivered with a universal mount.
