Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Fort Dunlop, Birmingham, 24.

THE CG/4-5 camber, castor and king-pin gauge made by this company consists of two separate instruments. The CG/4 is a simple gauge for measuring camber angle and floor level; the CG/5 measures castor angle and king-pin inclination, giving both readings in the one operation. This latter gauge can be attached to the stub axle nut, to a wheel stud, or to a centre-lock wheel.

The Dunlop optical alignment gauge AGO/30 is a well-known tool which can be used to check wheel alignment accurately and quickly. It comprises two separate horizontal bars, which are supported on legs placed on each side of the vehicle. Locating pointers are brought into contact with the wheel rims or tyre wall, On the end of one bar is a pivoted " view box-", which incorporates a thin vertical line and a large reflector plate; on the end of the other bar is a mirror. When checking alignment the end of the view box with its line plate is reflected back through the mirror opposite— the view box is pivoted until the line is centrally placed within vertical lines on the reflector plate. A pointer connected to the view box at right angles indicates the degree of toe-in or toe-out on a calibrated scale.

The AGO/30 equipment can also be used for wheel-alignment checking on front bogies. Using a special T-piece adapter, it can readily be seen that all steering wheels are in correct relationship to each other and to the vehicle as a whole.

Base-bar-alignment gauges (AG/10) supplied by Dunlop consist of a drawn-bar tube base bar and two cast columns with adjustable pointers. These can be adjusted for width of track and hub height. Model AG/1.0 has a base bar measuring 9 ft.. which is suitable for all classes of vehicle: another model, the AG/4, has a' 6-ft. 6-in, base bar, and is suitable for use with smaller vehicles,

including light vans. '
