Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Waltham Cross. Herts.

TWO basic designs of transformer-welding

sets made by Murex are considered suitable for vehicle workshop use, these being the Type 210 and the Type 333S. The Type 210 is an air-cooled unit, whilst the 333S is oil cooled.

The welding-current range of the 210 is from 20 to 210 amp., current selection being by means of two selector switches giving coarse and fine adjustment. The set is designed for connection to any a.c. voltage between 200 and 480, and can therefore be connected to a single-phase supply or to two

phases of a three-phase supply. The equipment is mounted on mobile gear with a pram-type handle, and capacitors—where required—are mounted internally. The 333S is also a mobile unit, being mounted on three wheels with a towing bar, and whilst the 333S is suitable for connection to any ac. voltage between 380 and 440, another version. the 333U, is suitable for connection to any voltage between 200 and 550. In each case the welding current range is from 15 to 250 amp. for continuous work and up to 333 amp. for intermittent welding. The open-circuit voltage is 80 for standard work, but a tapping is also provided to give an open circuit of 100 V for special electrodes.

Two other oil-cooled a.c. transformer welding sets made by Murex are similar in appearance to the 3335, the difference being in the welding current ranges, which arc a little higher.

A wide variety of welding sets for largescale work are also made by this concern.
