Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Church Road, Croydon, Surrey. -UOUR transformer-type a.c. arc-welding sets are manufactured by this company, these ranging from a small machine suitable for use in a vehicle workshop with limited welding requirements up to a dual-purpose unit which can be used by one or two operators.

The F.M.65. welding set will give its full output of 65 amp. from a domestic power point. The welding current cannot be varied but is calculated to ensure easy running on 14-s.w.g. electrodes. In addition, an extra 10-V tapping makes the set suitable for brazing work and so on. More applicable for use in a medium-size workshop is the F.M.180 general-purpose set, which has two voltage settings: 80 V, giving 40 to 130 amp.; and 55 V, giving 35 to 180 amp. In each case there are 16 variations to the current control.

The F.M.360 dual-purpose welding transformer is suitable for one or two operators. When one man only is using the machine the current rating at 80 V is 40 to 260 amp. and at 55 V, 35 to 360 amp. There are 64 current settings available and when the machine is used by two operators the maximum outputs are halved. Both the F.M.180 and F.M.360 transformers are mounted on four wheels.

The final Ferrous machine is the F.M.240 oil-cooled welding transformer, which has a current rating of 50 to 180 amp. at 80-V open circuit and 30 to 240 amp. at 50 V. There are two selector switches on this machine against a series of sockets on the F.M.180 and F.M.360 and these give 30 adjustments on each voltage setting.
