LT AST week Mr. C. M. Sheridan was 1—t officially welcomed at Nottingham as the new Licensing Authority and chairman of the East Midland Traffic Commissioners. He has succeeded Mr. C. R. Hodgson, who was conducting his last hearing at Nottingham before taking up his new appointment in the North Western area, based in Manchester.
Tributes to both men were paid by Mr. Anthony Rothera, Mr. 0. Horsey and the area secretary of the Road Haulage.' Association, Mr.. W. Morton. Mr. Hodgson, who has been the East Midland L.A. for-nearly seven years, said in reply that he would leave the area with many regrets, for it' was a happy area and always had been.
Mr. Sheridan commented:"I am making a new start. in Nottingham. I have at least 30 years of experience of the administration of justice, and I shall try to administer it as Mr. Hodgson has done."
