A NEW 61-tonner, with a 5.51-litre, IA 78 b.h.p. direct-injection oil engine and a four-speed direct-drive-top gearbox has been added to the Thornycroft range. It is to be called the Sturdy Star Special, and is equipped with 8.25-20-in. tyres to afford a gross weight of 10 tons 4 cwt.

This model is to be made in three wheelbase lengths of 10 ft. for tipper bodies, 13 ft. 6 in. for a Is-ft. 6-in. body, and a 16-ft. 6-in. wheelbase for bodies of up to 20 ft. in length. It is available with a two-speed axle which is optional to the 5.43 : I hypoid unit.
