COLOMBO'S municipal transport should either be reorganized or closed down, Mr. L. L. Attygalle, city treasurer, has recommended to the mayor.
Mr. Attygalle stated that the trolleybus service was inaugurated with Rs. 2.85m. obtained from tramway reserves and a local loan of Rs. 4.3m. Expenditure to date totalled Rs. 7m., so that only Rs. 159,000 was left for the remainder of the scheme.
Fifteen troileybuses, to cost Rs. 1.8m., were on order and Rs. 600,000 was outstanding for payments for installation equipment.
