Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Authority rejected a proposal of Nottingham Corporation to abolish early morning return fares, the corporation have applied for permission to replace them by special single fares.

When the Authority announced his decision last September (The Commercial Motor, October 2), he said that undue hardship would be caused to the travelling public if the application were granted. He did, however, give permission for the corporation to increase certain fares which would add £80,000 to their annual revenue—£30,000 less than they had expected.

The proposals are that a 4d. single should replace the 7d. and 8d. earlymorning returns, and a 5d. single the 10d. to Is. returns.
