VOLVO's world-wide commercial vehicle sales rose by 34 per cent in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 1981. Sales rose to SKr 2,911m (267m) from SKr 2,166m (f199m).
The sector includes lorries, buses, and construction equipment, but in Britain alone the company reports that its 908 14.5-ton and above rigids and 28-ton and above tractive units sold in the first quarter of 1982 kept it more than 100 vehicles ahead of any other manufacturer in the same combined sector.
Volvo was top seller in the over-28 ton sector with a 22.2 per cent market share, and it took the lead in the four-axle sector over 14.5 tons with 26.1 per cent of that area.
