Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

at present working to a fixed rate, I have had no experience of pricing individual loads and would be grateful for your assistance.

The estimate in question is a 200-mile journey with a fully loaded 13-ton gvw rigid taking approximately six hours, including loading and unloading and returning empty in about 5 hours.

Could you give me your estimate of a fair price and confirm whether I have correctly interpreted the figures in the Table of Operating Costs?

A It is always difficult to quote costing 1--s figures for individual operations mainly because we cannot be aware of all the overheads and expenses. However, it is our usual practice to quote from the Tables of Operating Costs, and as it appears that you have a copy of these we will just confirm the final figures you need.

One point you did not mention which has a bearing on the price is the weekly mileage, but we presume the journey you described is done daily, making 1000 miles a week. Also you did not mention the payload, which we assume is about 9 tons. As the tables do not cover this payload (only 8-ton or 11-ton payloads are included), it is perhaps better to take the price for the heavier vehicle to be on the safe side. ie the 11-ton payload. Vehicle Table 3. At 1000 miles per week your minimum earnings should be E140 5s Od, or on a mileage basis a minimum of 2s 9.6d per mile.
