Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The York W Series of platform semi-trailers has been superseded by a new range of medium-weight models—the M Series. There are seven models in the range which are designed to operate in outfits from 16 to 26 tons gross combination weight providing payloads between 10 and 18 tons.

For the lowest capacity models and two for 18 tons, platform length can be between 22 and 34ft. (30ft. with automatic coupling). For 20 tons gcw the length range is 22 to 32ft. and while the 24 and 26 tons gcw designs are available in a mitiimum length of 26ft., maximum lengths for these two are 28 and 33ft. respectively. Standard overall width is 8ft. 2in. with 7ft. 11.5in. the option and quoted unladen weights go from 2 tons 3.75cwt. to 3 tons 2cwt. according to size and design weight. All except the 26 ton model have single axles with 20in. twin wheels and tyres, the heaviest unit having single-tyred tandem axles.

A feature of the new design is 16.5in. deep by 5.5in. wide I-beam main chassis members with 4in. by 1.75in. full width cross-members threaded through the main rails on 2ft. centres.
