• Detailed modifications and the use of BS 4360 high-tensile steel combined with new welding techniques have enabled the weight of the Telehoist Load Lugger demountable refuse container vehicle to be reduced by about 16cwt in the case of a smaller model and over a ton in the case of a larger model, with corresponding increases in payload capacity. Modified components include lighter boom arms and high-pressure rams; loads can be lifted from 38-in. below ground level.
Known as the 401 and 501, the new models are designed for mounting on 12/16 ton g.v.w. chassis. The weights of the models are 3920Ib and 44801b respectively, their capacities being 10 cu.yd. and 16 cu.yd. The 491 has a lifting capacity of 20,000lb and the capacity of the 501 is 22,4001b. The price of the 401 is £1730 and the 501 costs £2025.
