DETROL eneines installed in some 60 large American articulated tractors operating in the Belgian Congo have been replaced by Leyland 125 b.h.p. compression-ignition units by Societe. des Chemins de Fer Vicinaux du Congo. Substantial reductions in running and maintenance costs have resulted from this conversion_ The organization is successfully operating Leyland Comet 90 oilers which, carrying 6-ton loads, save 1.5 francs per km. in fuel cost compared with petrol-engined 4-tonners.
