IT is reported that the businesses of 'Baillie Brothers, Ltd., and Clydebank Motors, Ltd., have been acquired by the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd. These concerns operate buses between Glasgow, Clydebank, Dumbarton and Balloch, and the S.M.T. concern will now have full control of the route between Glasgow and Balloch, and Glasgow and Helensburgh.

The company is building a large garage at Old Kilpatrick, on the GlasgowDumbarton road, which will be opened at the beginning of August.

The Baillie concern has an authorized capital of £5,000, whilst the issued capital of Clydebank Motors, Ltd., is £5,820. The report is, at the time of closing for press, unconfirmed.

BAD SITE INJURES TRADE.

THE importance of suitable stands for coaches is stressed by the experience of members of the Aberdeen Motor Coach Owners Association, who state that, since their vehicles were removed from one site to another, their business has Reclined to about 7i per cent. of that of May, 1935.

LIVERPOOL COACH STATION NEEDED.

THE suggestion that a coach station should be provided in Liverpool has been engaging the attention of the transport committee and the road transport section of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce. It appears that use of Monument Pace was suggested, hut this did not commend itself to Liverpool Corporation's health committee, which was of opinion that a station

such as that proposed should be situated on back land away from the main road.

The road transport section now invites suggestions for an alternative site or sites, and states that if these can be indicated, it will do anything to further the matter.

MORE BUSES FOR BOLTON.

BOLTON Transport Committee has decided to substitute buses for trams on the Swan Lane route. This will be the sixth tram service in the borough to be abandoned.

DAIMLER TO MAKE TROLLEYBUSES

I T was announced on Wednesday evening that the Daimler Co., Ltd., will shortly place on the market. four and six-wheeled trolleyhuses. Mr. F. A. Garrett, M.I.A.E., has been appointed to act in a consultative and advisory capacity, and will be largely responsible for the design of these vehicles. He has extensive knowledge and experience in this field.

The trolleybus chassis will be specially designed throughout and will not be, in any sense, an adaptation of the motorbus chassis. Production arrangements at the Daimler factory are such that the introduction of trolleybuses will in no way interfere with the delivery of motorbuses.

WIGAN'S PROUD BOAST.

AT the annual meeting of the Northern Market Authorities Association, at Southport, Aid. F. J. Pagett declared that Wigan was the first municipal authority to recognize the importance of co-ordinated motorbus services, linked up with efficient market administration. Recently, a new motorbus station had been opened in Wigan.

TRIBUNAL ARBITRATES IN STRIKE CAUSE.

VESTERDAY (Thursday) a sitting 1 was arranged of a tribunal which has been set up to arbitrate in the case of the dismissal of an employee of the City of Oxford Motor Services, Ltd. This action, which was taken on a charge of alleged incivility to a passenger, caused a strike. The tribunal comprises Sir John.Fischer Williams, K.C., Prof. J. L. Brierly and Mr. A. M. Eagleston.
