Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Logistics giant Tibbett & Britten is shedding 32 jobs from its European Technology Logistics division following the loss of a contract. A spokesman says the redundancies are "in response to developments in our customers' operational requirements".

However, redundancy notices given to the drivers reveal that T&B's 'technology network" has been operating at hail capacity since computer firm Compaq shifted to another haulier earlier in the year.

Some 24 drivers are affected at Warrington, Hackney, Durham and Bristol; two warehouse and six administrative staff are also being laid-off. T&B's spokesman adds: "Greater volumes will in future be processed through our larger hubs, with the consequence that some of our smaller satellite depots will no longer be required. We greatly regret that this move will result in the redundancies—it is Tibbett & Britten's policy to seek to redeploy as many of the affected employees as possible."

The news comes as jobs at the company's Crick depot were saved by a new multi-millionpound contract with Mothercare. The depot was hit by the loss of the C&A contract in the summer, but the five-year Mothercare contract is said to outweigh this.
