A tachograph technician working for a main Scania dealer has been cleared of fitting tachograph interrupter switches to vehicles run by Grimsby haulier MJ Moody International.
Kenneth Greetham, working for Scanlink Grimsby, pleaded not guilty at Grimsby Crown Court to conspiring with the company's managing director Michael Moody and eight of its drivers to use false instruments with intent to deceive (CM10-16 Feb ).
At the start of Greetham's trial the prosecution offered no evidence and Judge Richard Hutchinson directed that a not guilty verdict be returned.
Moody and the drivers, who have already pleaded guilty to conspiracy, are to be sentenced at the end of July. Judge Hutchinson warned that it was a serious matter and that Moody could be facing a custodial sentence ( CM19-25 Aug 1999).
