• UK Waste Control has bought Leigh Environmentat's domestic waste division which holds three major refuse collection contracts.
All 93 staff at Leigh Clean will be retained, says UK Waste Control managing director Barry Trowbridge. They are currently based at East Staffordshire, West Oxfordshire and Leominster.
The Leigh subsidiary will be transferred to UK Waste Control on 1 August. This will give the firm a total of 13 local authority contracts, almost 600 staff and 190 vehicles.
