developed a contract hire package offering users of high pressure cleaners a unique combination of competitive fixed costs and guaranteed equipment availability which will, they claim, will benefit the automotive industry.
Called MAC 3, the scheme covers all planned maintenance labour and consumeable parts as well as breakdown parts and labour. All call-out charges, travel time, and onsite costs are covered and, in addition, any delay in repair is met by the free loan of a pressure cleaner, provided the failure is not due to neglect.
Other benefits claimed are that it is simpler to account for an 'operating lease' since all rental payments qualify for tax relief, while the equipment remains off the balance sheet and does not have to be discosed as an asset. MAC 3 also gives completely fixed costs with a monthly payment known in advance, inflationproofed for the entire threeyear period of the rental.
MAC has also simplified the small print surrounding such agreements and gives the user an opportunity to the discount purchase of the company's range of cleaning chemicals.
There is an absence of any capital outlay at any stage in the agreement, plus a trade-in allowance on the hirer's current machine.

5 TONNE DUOLIFF • Hofmann Balancing Techniques of Reading, Berks, has designed the Duolift GS 5.0, to bring all the benefits associated with two-post lifts to workshops handling light commercials.
Though larger and stronger than its 21/2 tonne counterpart, the Duolift GS 5.0 is just as quick and simple to use, and lifting time remains around 45 seconds.
Hofmann states that it is ideal for box vans and short wheelbase commercials. With its 5 tonne capacity it will comfortably handle such vehicles even when fully loaded, and it can be used to lift cars as well.
Power is provided by two synchronised electric 3-phase motors, one to each column. The width between columns is 3.04m while, in addition to the standard lifting pads, a small range of alternatiVe pick-up adaptors, which are slotted
into place for use with particular makes of vehicle, is provided.
Despite its greater load bearing capacity, installation is identical to the smaller 2.5 tonne model, requiring no special foundation.
