• Toyota has built over four million Hi-Lux pick-ups. The Hi-Lux is the first Toyota truck or light commercial to reach this figure, and currently boasts the third largest production volume of any Toyota vehicle after the Corolla and Corona cars.
Almost 90% of all Hi-Lux production is exported, with the United States the largest market.
Production of the Toyota Lite-Ace compact van — launched in the UK this spring — has also passed one million.
Toyota has increased its UK light commercial vehicle sales during 1986 by almost 19%, with a rise in both its van and 4 x2 and 4 x4 pick-up sales.
