GOVERNMENT plans for fare paying passengers to allowed to travel on local authority school buses were pass last week, despite protests by Conservative MP Peter Fry.
Mr Fry said the Government had an obligation to all bus operators to ensure they got fair treatment, and said that there was a risk of these buses undermining existing services.
He said it was unfair that the drivers of these vehicles should not need psv licences when stage carriage operators had difficulty recruiting staff, and he called for a compromise. He did not support t Government in the vote, amendment to the Transpi Bill, but it was passed by 1 votes to 64.
