Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

see whether vehicles over 3.5 exempted from the tachograph HE Transport Minister is to letric tons liveweight can be tquirements.

Norman Fowler made this romise in the Commons, 3ough he warned that his in3rmation was that this country ad taken as much as it safely ould from the EEC regulations.

The point about heavier lores had been raised by Albert IcQuarrie (Con, Aberdeenshire ast) who said that EEC regulaons stipulated a limit of 3.5 3etric tons.

Many vehicles leaving rural onstituencies such as his had a reater liveweight than that, 3id Mr McQuarrie, so he suggsted that the Minister should consider some form of exemption to carry them into the EEC.

In a progress report on the tachograph scheme, Mr Fowler said he had approved about two thirds of the proposed network of 450 major tachograph centres. This network was being supplemented by a number of more modestly equipped stations in remote areas.

He was not aware of any problems, but his Department's enforcement staff would be paying particular attention to compliance with the programme for fitting tachographs during their routine checks on vehicles.
