GM's Britis, ommercial

AS ITS NAME suggests, this is a history of the Bedford Company, and it starts off by making an interesting comparison. -In 1931, two new British makes of motor vehicle took their bow — Bedford and SS (the future Jaguar). Both were instant successes and neither ever looked back."

In the fashion of many marque histories these days, the book is mainly pictorial. While I am not against this in principle I feel that it has been overdone on this occasion with the paucity of text inviting criticism.

tary history is not forgotten and apart from the obvious descriptions of the OY, OLD, OXC models, etc, the author reminds us that the twin-six cylinder engine for the Churchill tank was made by Bedford. Bedford-GM's British Commercial by Michael Sedgwick, is published by Dalton Watson, 76 Wardour Street, London W1V 4AN. Price £7.
