'TIPPER operators in the Portsmouth I area are being invited to take up shares in the newly-formed Mid-Southern Tipping Group Ltd., which is intended to cover a radius of about 15 miles from Portsmouth and thus includes Gosport, Fareham, Petersfield and Chichester.
Basic hire rates for tipping vehicles were established at the first meeting of the directors recently, Mr. K. Privett, Mr. R. D. Merrick, Mr. M. P. Powell, Mr. A. J. Treloar and Mr. M. Stokes having confirmed their acceptance of directorship at this meeting. All the directors said they had received inquiries or had knowledge of substantial contracts for passing to the group.
The secretary of the group, Mr. W. J. Aylward, of Portsmouth, told The Commercial Motor last week he was confident that the group had been formed at the right moment in view of the big road improvement schemes and similar developments to be started in the area this year and he was sure that the share capital of the company, £2,000, would be fully subscribed. The applications for shares will be dealt with at a meeting of the directors on July 10.
