Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

United Dominions Trust, Ltd., is holding a meeting on July 12 to pass resolutions for reorganizing and increasing the capital of the company and altering its Articles of Association. As a result of negotiations with the holders of B shares of £2 each, on which at present there is an uncalled liability of £1 per share, they have agreed to give up their existing participating rights—subject to the resolutions being passed—and to pay the amount of the uncalled liability. The 250,000 B shares of £2 each will then become 500,000 fi per cent. cumulative preference shares at £1.

It is also proposed to convert the existing A shares into ordinary shares and to create 250,000 additional ordinary shares at £1 each, of which it is intended to issue 175,000 and to offer them to ordinary shareholders at a premium and at the rate of seven shares for every 10 ordinary shares now held. If the resolution be passed, the capital will then be £1,000,000.

DUAL-PURPOSE SIX-WHE E LERS FOR THE S.A.R.

In those districts in South Africa where the demand for goods and passenger transport does not justify the use of separate and regular services for each class of work, the South African Railways have been experimenting with six-wheeled vehicles having dual-purpose bodies built in their own shops, these being designed on the lines of the single-deck bus with two compartments, in which the front portion is reserved for passengers and that at the rear for • goods. The success of these experiments may be judged by the fact that the S.A.R. have recently placed a further order for 23 Leyland Terrieic for this work.

A Handy, Low-priced Fire-extinguisher.

Supplied, complete with a bracket, at the low figure of as. 9d., the Guardian fire-extinguisher made by Kwellit, Ltd., Astwood Bank, Redditch, should prove useful for dealing with vehicle fires when caught in the early stages. The carbon tetrachloride is contained in a tin, a feature of which is the glass top. This top is sealed on to the container with a special compound, so that no evaporation takes place.

By breaking the glass top of the container the fire can be dealt with immediately, and the possibility of immediate action more than compensates for the small amount of liquid.

No less than 99.9 per cent, pure carbon tetrachloride is employed, so that the extinguisher can safely be used on electrical fires without fear of shock.
