Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

While there have been no major additions to the light van world in the past year, what's available is, on the whole, a strong line-up

The highs of last year in the sales stakes have inevitably been reduced, but that hasn't diminished the actual product on the market. Manufacturers are becoming ever more aware of the demands placed on light vans, making their products tougher than ever before. On top of this, you have secondgeneration commonrail engines.some with multi-jet technology. The result is excellent fuel-economy combined with a level of reliability that makes these vehicles so practical in the real world. Payloads are now touching LOCH/kg, with load volumes reaching a capacious 4m3.

So who to pick? The main players, ie Ford and Vauxhall, still justify their high market shares with strong products, though in truth the Corsa and Combo are getting a little dated when compared to the best-in-class. But for those with particular demands, the Astra van provides something different.

The French alternativesRenault, Peugeot. and Citroen may be seen by some as just that, but they're well designed and on the whole come with sparkling engines though admittedly the Dispatch/Expert/ Scudo has pretty much had its day.

Fiat is another one that sits on the fringe, only more so, and though it deserves more respect, some people can't get over its previous reputation. But with a range of multi-jet engines that are right up there -especially the they're worth a look.

And finally we have Volkswagen.Therc may be only one vehicle in this category, but it's a cracker. The Caddy does not come cheap. but when you factor in the residuals and excellent fuel economy you have a tempting package. And the way it drives should keep your staff happy. What a shame they don't make a Polo commercial.
