There's a lot of choice in the 12 to 26-tonne rigid market. It already contains many new trucks and there's at least one more due to come out this year.

The trend to polarise distribution operations between vans and 'proper' trucks has seen a steady rise in the desirability of rigid trucks from 12 to 26 tonnes. And it's the larger end with 6x2s that combine excellent manoeuvrability with the ability to haul I8-tonnes plus of body and payload.not to mention the enhanced immunity from axle overloads, that makes most sense.

The big news on products is the arrival of MAN's new middleweight offering, the TGM, and the impressive new Renault Premium. In fact, by the spring, when Volvo's latest should he with us, the marketplace will never have looked as modern. Dais offerings, which don't exactly look ancient, will he the oldest of the major players, while most of the rest will he less than two years old. No doubt manufacturers will use the arrival of Euro-4as an opportunity to 'realign' their pricing, but the presence of so many good products in the sector can only be good news for buyers. Walking away from a deal you don't like will never he easier.
