nowadays and its Terrano offers a set-up that very few manufacturers have. Based on the passenger version it comes with a comfortable cab and a choice of either 2.7or 3.0-litre turbodiesel engines.
The 1.55m load space is good enough for most needs and a payload of 752kg is excellent for the class, but it shouldn't be considered as an outright load carrier. Access is hampered by the single swing door that opens sideways, which may be a problem in tight spaces.
The driving experience is let down byte longthrow gear shift and the soft suspension tends to roll a touch in corners. Of the engines, the 3.0litre is the one to go for. It may be a touch rough on start-up. but once it's warm the torque delivery allows quick progress. especially off-road.
