The LT shares the same body as the Sprinter, though the two products have diverged since launch with VW supplying its own engines but falling behind on mid-life development. The unique selling point of the LT range is the power line-up. The 2.5-litre five-cylinder motor, which has powered the range since its launch, is deservedly a classic, complemented by the equally impressive 2.8-litre, 158hp unit giving the LT the ammo to challenge the Sprinter for high-speed, long-distance operations.
Our mid-2005 analysis showed the LT to be on an upward sales trend. with nearly 5% of the large van market. Like the Sprinter, though, thereS a replacement waiting in the wings. As with the current model. the new LT will share a production line with the Sprinter, but our sources tell us that the new line-up will feature even more commonality than at present.
