While the 2004 upgrade gave the trio a new lease of Fite the market is still proving reluctant to commit in the requisite numbers. Unusually, the Renault version outsells the Vauxhall three to two in the UK. They combine excellent usable loadspace with stylish looks, decent driver comtort and a refined engine line-up, which was lacking in the first generation range.

Power options range from a 82hp, 1.9-litre engine for local work to atop of the range 3.0litre, 136hp unit sourced from Nissan. The top Iwo power ratings come with new six-speed transmission, while lower powered options get a five-speed. All now have a dash-mounted gearshift, while Tecshift automated transmission is available from Vauxhall. There's a choice of three wheelbases and roof heights, with load volumes from 8.3m3 to 13.9rtf.
