• Truck drivers in London are set to reject a Road Haulage Association pay offer of £8.50. Shop stewards from the Transport and General Workers Union in the Metropolitan area will meet this weekend to discuss the package, which also includes a 2.1 rise in the subsistance allowance.
Union members in Kent are likely to accept a 210 offer and drivers in Southern region have settled for an £8.50 rise. As Commercial Motor went to press, the TGWU was recommending the acceptance of an £8.40-a-week offer in the East Midlands.
