Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A FERRY from Aberdeen to the Continent is under examination by the Scottish Development Agency, working with Aberdeen Harbour Board.

This revives an older project which did not materialise with the comment that —circumstances have changed markedly since that earlier assessment."

Both the Harbour Board and the SDA believe that the time is now ripe for a re-examination of potential.

The first stage will be market analysis to determine the potential traffic; if a positive reaction is achieved the second phase will follow with the selection of an operator and assessment of routes.

There is massive road traffic currently from the North of Scotland in beef, fish and other products to Europe through southern ferries and the purpose of the current move is to consider whether that traffic, allied to oil industry work, might be better directed through Aberdeen.
