TRUCK RACING will not figure in the Volvo Trucks (Great Britain) calendar of events for 1985.
In a strongly worded statement issued this week the Irvinbased company sees truck racing as inconsistant with the company's safety and environmental philosophies.
Volvo stresses that its decision not to participate in such events was taken after careful consideration. It was a major abject of discussion at a Volvo distributor association meeting.
Volvo is the first manufacturer to condemn truck racing but a spokesman said that he knew others were apprehensive about the future of the event.
