TURKEY has changed tip way in which it applies transi tax to commercial vehicles and has abolished its gasolini compensation tax.
The charge is arrange( according to the number o axles and — as now — th, distance to be travelled, but ni account will be taken of it gross or net weight or its pay load.
They are being express& and levied in Deutschmarks and United Kingdon vehicle will be charged DM 0.20 (6p per axle per km loaded, an DM 0.11 (3p) per axle per kr empty.
Fixed distances will b assumed, according to th route taken across Turkey and excess charges will still b applied to vehicles which eN ceed Turkish weights and d: mensions. For lengths, thes range between £28 and £14 (DM 100 to 500), and fo weights from £280 to £112 (DM 1000 to 4000).
