Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Dearer Fords

THE PRICES of Ford products increased by an average of 4.9 per cent on January 2.

Ford says the increases were necessitated by rises in the costs of raw materials, components and services and do not reflect increased wage costs.

Examples of the effect of the price increases are: A Transit 190 van goes up by £198, a D-series D1010 chassis cab goes up by £217 and a Transcontinental H4427 artic unit increases in price by £904.

Mack for rent

RENT-A-TRAILER—has expanded its operations to include the supply of tractive units.

The company, based at Leighton Buzzard, initially acquired a Mack unit for evaluation. Now Rent-aTrailer is purchasing more Mack units including sleeper cab vehicles. Customers will now therefore be able to rent complete tractor-trailer outfits.

Buying up

BUYERS from all parts of the country attended a sale of containers recently held in Coventry.

There were 59 containers of various types offered for sale by Central Motor Auctions on behalf of Freightliners and a further series of sales are proposed during 1979.

London bridge is...

LONDON may be getting a new bridge — but it will not be started for at least another ten years.

The City Corporation, which ten years ago set up a working party to study the potential for a road tunnel crossing of the Thames, has revived the idea of a new Thames link, but now inclines towards a bridge.

Any such bridge would have considerable advantages for heavy goods traffic, as the proposed site is a little to the east of Tower Bridge and would link Oocklands with South London.
