THE scope of the census of production to be taken in 1952 in respect of 1951 and the information to be obtained have been settled after consultation with the census advisory committee.
The statutory form of return will include questions on (1) working proprietors, (2) employment, (3) wages and salaries, (4) plant, machinery and vehicles, (5) new building work, (6) power equipment and fuel usage, (7) shift-working, (8) materials and fuel purchased, (9) work even out. (10) stocks at the beginning and end of the year, (11) output, and (12) transport payments.
Companies will generally find it unnecessary to analyse their transport accounts in order. to complete their returns; both the cost of materials and the value of sales will be asked for as invoiced, including transport inwards and outwards only where this is included in the invoice price.
Forms for the census of distribution have already been sent to 33.000 motor traders.
