TIM Road Haulage Executive denies
the statement made in "The Commercial Motor." on December IS, that instructions have been issued to local managers to the effect that they are not to deal with independent operators and are to decline traffic offered by them.
"The consignment to which reference is made." says the Executive, " consisted.of two tons of loose confectionery (250 cartons without fixed lids) and was obviously unsuitable for conveyance by a parcels service. The consignment could only be dealt with safely by using a vehicle solely for the purpose and no suitable vehicle was available at the moment: the goods could not be left on the premises until a vehicle became available because of the risks involved."
