• Owner-driver Polly Jones with 21 years in the business has been named "Haulier of the Year" by Singleton Birch Quarry of Barnetby, South Humberside. Jones is the first woman to win the annual award. She drives a tipper transporting lime to the quarry which is used by up to 70 hauliers. She delivers at nights and weekends, which she says few others are prepared to do.
"I'm over the moon," she says. "It has taken a lot of hard work to do it." Alan Broadbent, distribution manager at Singleton Birch, says Jones won with the quality and quantity of her work.
