• international transport firms are becoming "lost in a tax jungle", according to a new survey on road transport in central and eastern Europe which suggests high taxes are having serious consequences on trade. The survey, by the International Road Transport Union, says unjustified taxes will cause barriers to international trade, rising inflation and more expensive transport.
