A. T. Darlington, of A. Darlington (Heswall) Ltd, Gayton, Cheshire. was elected president of the Liverpool branch of the Transport Managers' Club at the agm. I. C. Harrison, of Perris and Kearon Ltd, Liverpool, is chairman: E. Thomas, of Aaron Henshall Ltd, Prescott, secretary: R. Blackwell, of Ulster Ferry Link Line Ltd, Liverpool, treasurer.
Brian Grey, who has been personnel, security and training officer with Hilton's Transport Services for three years, has been appointed an executive director.
H. A. Sutherst has been appointed joint managing director of Dowie and Marwood Ltd. of Liverpool, shipbrokers, shipping and forwarding agents and travel agents. He is also managing director of the Cranmer Cartage Co, a director of Carefree Travel (D & M). and chairman of the Railway Demurrage Committee of the Liverpool Steam Ship Owners' Association. H. F. C. Adcock retires from the post of traffic manager with London Country Bus Services tomorrow. Mr Adcock entered the industry in 1924 as a clerk in the Underground Group, and in 1937 became a trainee in the London General Omnibus Company. He has been in various posts with London Transport and in addition has served overseas. In 1942 he was loaned to the UK Commercial Corporation for service in Persia, and two years later was appointed a staff officer with the Control Commission in Berlin. Thirteen years later came another overseas posting when he was seconded for Government service in Ceylon.
J. M. Birch has relinquished his appointments as deputy chairman and deputy managing director of Birch Bros Ltd and has retired from the board after nearly 39 years with the company. Birch Bros has been absorbed by George Ewer and Co Ltd (CM January 29).
