Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Ron Cater THE SEMI-TRAILER has always been the poor relation of motive units when maintenance time comes round. However, owing to the hard life to which trailers are subjected and because when in good condition they can contribute quite considerably to fuel economy, braking efficiency and general handling of combinations, workshops should pay them equal attention to tractive units.

Rubery Owen-Rockwell has just introduced a trailer service manual to be used in conjunction with its Axles Spares Manual which can be obtained free of charge on request from: Spares and Service Department, Rubery Owen-Rockwell Ltd, PO Box 36, Cleveleys Road, Warrington, Lancs, or Sales Dept, RO-R Ltd, PO Box 10, Darlaston, Wednesbury, Staffs.

The manual is comprehensive without being tedious to read or difficult to find one's way around in. It covers axle installation, care and maintenance, adjustment and overhaul of hubs, dismantling and assembly of S-cam brake units, two-leading shoe wedge units and FCSS units. It also contains torque recommendations for wheelnuts and recommended lubricants.
