Congratulations to MR. AND MRS. ROLAND E. DANGERFIELD on the birth of a son on Monday, February 1. Mr. Dangerfield, who is the managing director of Temple Press Limited, the proprietors of this journal, has always displayed a great interest in commercial road transport. Possibly this is ,why the latest arrival can be classed "amongst the , `,` heavies "—the weight of the baby at birth 'being no less than 8 lb. 13 oz.

MR. JACK STRACHAN has been appointed the representative for B.E.N. Patents, Ltd., Park Royal, London, N.W.10, for the whole of Scotland ; be is a well-known personality in the motor trade.

MR. P. G. RICKARD has been appointed assistant sales manager of Jack Olding and Co., Ltd., the wellknown distributor for Dodge vehicles. Until recently he held a similar position with the Armstrong-Saurer concern, being with the company for 51 years, prior to which he saw Ifli years' service with the Saurer company.

MR. JAMES BENTLEY, Of Sheffield, who, at the age of 80, is still actively engaged in the moter trade as head of the concern of Bentley Brothers (Sheffield), Ltd., was elected chairman of the Yorkshire Division of the Motor Agents Association, at the recent annual meeting of the division. He succeeds MR. F. A. JACKSON, j.P., of Doncaster. MR. H. D. WELLS, chairman of the Hull section of the M.A.A., and managing director of the Paragon Motor Co.. Hull, was appointed vicechairman in succession to Mr. Bentley.

Warrington Corporation has engaged MR. A. R. FEARNLEY, formerly transport manager to Sheffield Corporation, to act as consultant on the question of the co-ordination of passenger-transport services.

MR. W. PARKINSON (Messrs. W. Parkinson and Son), Bradford, was elected chairman of the Bradford section of the Motor Agents Association, at the recent meeting of the section. In that office he succeeds MR. H. CUNDALL (Thornton Engineering Co.), Bradford. MR. S. S. ADAMS (Undercliffe Motor Service), Bradford, was reelected vice-chairman, and M. RUPERT LINDLEY, of Bradford, was reappointed hon. secretary.

The Council of the Institute of Metals has added to its short list of fellows the names of DR. HAROLD MOORE, C.B.E., and MR. W. MURRAY MORRISON. Dr. Moore is a past-president of the Instituteand director of the British Non-Ferrous Metals Research Association. He was elected a member of the Institute in 1920. Mr. Morrison is an original member of the Institute, having assisted in its formation in 1908. He is vice-chairman and managing director of the British Aluminium Co., Ltd., with which he has been associated for over 40 years.
