A BOSTON, Lincolnshire-based truckstop and diner used by drivers visiting Boston docks could close as the local council looks to cut costs.
The lorry park is on a council-owned plot on St Johns Road, near the docks, but Boston Borough Council hopes to replace it with a relocated environmental services depot.
A council spokesman said that moving the depot from its current site on land it does not own could save more than £100,000 a year in rent.
"We do not actually get any income from the lorry [park]," he added.
Drivers currently park there for free. There is also a café on site, but it could not be reached for comment as CM went to press. The spokesman could not confirm whether there are other truckstops in the area, but said there was room at the port for drivers wishing to park. A decision on closure is expected within the next two months.
