BODY AND trailer manufacturer Cartwright Group has developed a paint-free box trailer, which includes a new fully galvanised chassis.
Group sales director Darren Holland said the company is trying to move away from the paint process because it is inconsistent across the different types of products built by Cartwright. The chassis is galvanised with premium grade anti-corrosive steel that offers better protection than paint. The rest of the trailer includes powder-coated
aluminium extrusions and manufactured panels that are impregnated with colour.
"It means the bare galvanised chassis goes from the start of the production line to the end with no paint process involved," he said. "By removing [paint] altogether, we reduce the build process for a single trailer by up to eight hours."
Holland said the firm has built more than 600 in three months for several key customers including Yodel, Hermes and Clipper Logistics.
