Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The first examples of ERF's new ECM middleweight rigid range have started to arrive in the UK following its debut at the NEC Show in March. Initial deliveries of the 4x2 18-tonner will be powered by 220 and 280hp six-cylinder MAN engines; ECMs with the 220hp Cummins ISBe diesel will follow early next year.

ERF has also developed a 6x2 ECM with lifting rear axle and 280hp MAN engine. A heavy-duty, muckaway 8x4 ECM is in the pipeline; according to the company "several ERF dealers are already holding initial customer orders".

MAN-ERF group marketing director David Burke reports that ERF's dealers have responded well to the ECM, while the latest ECT artic "is creating a lot of interest among tractor operators. Orders are realty starting to flow and the first vehicles are already out on the road delivering a very pleasing performance.

'Now, to have the first of the 'matching' ERF rigids is a real bonus. We are anticipating being able to meet next year's sales targets as a mini

mum, and maybe even exceed them," he says.

Burke accepts that ERF has recently suffered from poor product availability, but concludes: "After a barren summer for operators and dealers alike, supply is now very good—and that is already being translated into firm orders."
